Why three, and why a total
One deal is luck. Three is enough that a bad opening costs you something and a good one does not carry the whole month. The total only appears once all three are finished — adding up the ones you did would make a month you barely played look like your fastest.
A slower run never replaces a faster one, so you can open a deal again without risking the time you already have. There is no leaderboard: nothing here is sent anywhere, and nothing is compared with anyone. The daily deal is the one that changes every day; this one changes on the first of the month.
